Infinite Possibilities of Gangneung where Business,Culture and Tourism meet.
- The earlier the summer arrives, the cooler Gangneung gets with a wide variety of exciting summer festivals -
Gangneung beaches are set to open with a variety of attractions and activities available under the theme of healing.
Gyeongpo Beach will be the first to open in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province this year on June 29, and 17 other beaches will open between July 5 and August 18.
An opening ceremony will be held at the central square of Gyeongpo Beach at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. There will be pre-ceremonial performances, a sex crime prevention campaign, and lifeguard training along with promotional activities for a water activity facility in connection with the Oribawi (Duck Rock) diving platform, the first of its kind in the city.
The Gangneung Beach Beer Festival, marking the beginning of a series of fun and exciting summer festivals, will be held for three days from July 28 (Friday), while the Gyeongpo Summer Festival will take place for seven days from July 30 (Tuesday) to delight people’s eyes and ears with a wide range of dynamic events and activities.
This year, a comprehensive water activity facility was installed in connection with the Oribawi (Duck Rock) diving platform to make it safer to use the diving site. The children's seawater pool that was incredibly popular last year will reopen along with massive water slides that have been newly installed.
The dog pool at Anmok Beach has been expanded to meet the needs of people visiting with their pet dogs.
Gangneung City has established a safety management system with a 24-hour situation room, strengthened the public, private, and military cooperation system, hired more lifeguards, and procured more safety and security equipment to ensure safety and comfort for beach users.
“Similar to last year, many vacationers are expected to visit this year, so we have organized new activities and various attractions. We hope that many tourists will enjoy and heal the sea of Gangneung, the best along the east coast, and follow the safety rules so that they can enjoy the water safely without any accidents,” said Eom Geum-moon, the head of the Tourism Policy Division.
