Gangneung City Delegation Visits Sister City Jingzhou

- Signing of an MOU to strengthen cooperation at an event held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of sisterhood ties on September 25 -

 

A delegation from Gangneung City is set to a visit to Jingzhou, China in time for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of sisterhood ties to affirm the friendly relations between the two cities and seek ways to continue exchange and cooperation.

 

The delegation, comprised of Mayor Kim Hong Gyu, Gangneung City Councilor Kim Ki Young, and Gangneung Cultural Center Director Kim Hwa Mook, will officially begin their schedule in their Chinese sister city on Wednesday, September 25.

 

In the morning, the representatives are scheduled to explore renowned tourist sites such as the Jingzhou Museum and the Jinan Innovation Zone, and in the afternoon, an event commemorating 20th anniversary of the establishment of sister city relations between Gangneung and Jingzhou will be held.

 

At the event, representatives of the two cities will sign a memorandum of understanding to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of culture, arts, and education, in addition to broadening exchanges in the economic sector, including trade and industrial cooperation, to strive for mutual development and prosperity.

 

Zhou Zhihong, Mayor of Jingzhou, Wang Lihe, leader of Foreign Affairs Office, and Park Sang Jin, Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Wuhan, will attend the event, where the Gangneung City delegation plans to present the mayor of Jingzhou with an honorary citizenship certificate to commemorate the 20-year relationship.

 

Gangneung Mayor Kim Hong Gyu said, “Over the past two decades, I have visited Jingzhou a number of times as a member of the Gangneung City Council, as the chairman of the Gangneung City Council, and as the mayor of Gangneung City, and we have built brotherly ties between the two cities. [] I hope that we can further expand the scope of cultural and economic exchanges so that Gangneung and Jingzhou can achieve substantial development and prosperity.”

 

Gangneung and Jingzhou became sister cities on October 19, 2004, and have since engaged in various exchanges in the fields of culture, arts, and civil sectors and they have also maintained close ties through exchanges of public officials between since 2005.
